Last year my husband, my kids and I were looking to do something a little different for Thanksgiving.  We wanted to really explain the significance of the holiday to our children so we decided to volunteer at a soup kitchen and it was a great experience for all of us.  It made us feel as if we were finally doing something really significant and instead of just telling our children with words we gave them a hands on experience.  They really enjoyed the warm feeling it gave them inside and they understood how important it is to make a person in need smile.

Unfortunately for many of us, schedules get in the way and we don’t even have the time to look past our every day routine but, lucky for many of us, the holidays present a great opportunity-take some of that  time off to give to those in need, even if it’s just for a couple of hours.

MassLive.com makes it sooooo easy for you.  They have a page with all the various links to places where you can volunteer, donate, etc. Just click here.  You CAN make a difference in someones life.
